Rules
ROOKIE HOUSE LEAGUE RULES OF PLAY
General
1. Players will be moved around positions and afforded ample opportunity to try different positions
2. Absolutely no throwing of helmets or equipment or profanities - automatic one game suspension
3. Zero tolerance for abuse of umpires
4. Home team responsible to set out and take back in the bases and the pitching machine.
5. Winning team is responsible for submitting score online after the game
6. All players must be in full uniform including shirt tucked into pants and ballcap on forward.
Specific Rules
1. ***Fully Loaded Baseball*** – Each inning is started with a runner on each base. The bottom three batters in the starting lineup will begin the game as the runners on each base in the 1st inning. For each subsequent inning, the last three batters from the previous inning will start on base.
2. Maximum of 7 runs per inning.
3. No new inning to start after 8:00pm (firm).
4. Games are 7 innings or until curfew.
5. A team must have at least 7 players in attendance at first pitch in order for the game to count in the standings.
That settled, the game can be played as a forfeited game (7-0 score).
6. A batting helmet must be worn by the player occupying the pitching position.
7. Five pitches per batter. The batter cannot be called out on a foul ball unless it is caught.
8. If a player does not swing at a pitch and the umpire determines it was a bad or wild pitch then a “NO PITCH” will be awarded and another pitch will be granted.
9. If a batted ball hits the pitching machine or any adult in the field of play, the ball is DEAD and the batter is awarded first base with the corresponding movement of runners forced to move.
10. Pitchers cannot enter or reach into the circled area around the pitching machine.
11. Runners may advance only one base on an overthrown ball from any fielder.
12. Two coaches are permitted to stand in the grass outfield during a defensive inning.
13. On field players:
- 1 pitcher, 1 catcher, 4 infielders and all remaining players in the outfield.
- nobody sits
- all outfielders must be on the grass
14. Baserunners – no leading off, no stealing and no bunting
15. PITCHING MACHINE SPEED – no more than 40 MPH
16. Players must slide at home plate on ALL close plays
All rules will remain the same on the Day of Champs except for the insertion of a Mercy Rule. Any team leading by 12 or more runs at the end of 5 complete innings or by 18 runs at the end of 3 innings wins and the game ends. No new inning after time limit. Last inning open ended.
