Rules
12U/13U HOUSE LEAGUE RULES OF PLAY
General
1. Players will be moved around positions and afforded ample opportunity to try different positions
2. Absolutely no throwing of helmets or equipment - automatic one-game suspension
3. Zero tolerance for abuse of umpires
4. Home team responsible to set out and take back bases
5. Home team responsible for submitting score online after the game
Specific Rules
1. Players may advance on their own free will on any overthrow
2. No infield fly rule
3. Teams must provide a runner for the catcher with two outs (last out will run)
4. No limits on the number of coach visits to the mound unless there is an obvious attempt at delaying the speed of the game (umpire will use discretion)
5. Any pitcher that hits 3 batters has to be removed from pitching for that game
6. Teams will play with 4 outfielders (unless they do not have enough players)
7. Uniform shirts, pants and hat must be worm for all games
8. Players must slide at home plate on ALL close plays
9. Game start is 6:15 pm sharp.
10. No new inning will start after 8:00 pm
11. Bats with barrel diameters of 2 5/8 or 2 3/4 are acceptable
12. 3rd-year players - maximum 2 innings pitched per game
13. All other players - maximum 3 innings pitched per game
14. There is absolutely no advancing to 2nd base unless there is a walk or a ball in play. Stealing third and home at runner’s discretion.
15. No leading off any base. The runner can only leave the base once the pitcher has released the ball. If a runner leaves early, play is stopped, the umpire will give the offending team one warning. Any more occurrences that game will result in the runner being called out. Each team will get one warning each game.
16. Games are 7 innings (unless curfew comes into effect)
17. Teams must have 8 players present at 6:15 pm to count as an official game for the standings.
18. There is a 6-run cap on every inning. There is no such things as an open inning or unlimited run inning. If the game is past the time limit and the team that is hitting is down more than 6 runs, the game is over.
19. A batter is out when a third strike is legally caught by the catcher. If the catcher fails to catch the ball on a third strike, and first base is open, or there are two outs, then the batter becomes a runner.
